REGIONAL ECOLOGY CENTER CUM LIBRARY CORNER ESTABLISHED AT THE EMB-R3 OFFICE
Through the initiative and leadership of Dir. Wilson L. Trajeco, PME, PhD (Regional Director, Environmental Management Bureau Regional Office No. III), the Regional Ecology Center cum Library Corner were finally established in the office building of EMB-R3 last March 2021.
The Regional Ecology Center features a brief background about the agency and the six (6) environmental mandates it enforces and implements. It likewise serves as a platform for the public to participate in solid waste management through technology transfer, data transfer and networking. Its creation is in compliance with Republic Act No. 9003, also known as the “Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000” which mandates local government units in implementing solid waste management and in carrying out its provisions.
The Library Corner was integrated into the center to provide easy access for the public and EMB-R3 personnel to the available reading materials such as guidelines, issuances, manuals, modules, programs, references, reports, sourcebooks, textbooks and other IEC materials on environment and natural resources.
Looking forward, EMB Region 3 planned to develop further the facility such as the installation of information monitors and touchscreen kiosk in order to further improve our service to the clients and heighten the implementation of Republic Act No. 9512, otherwise known as the “National Environmental Awareness and Education Act of 2008.”
